Help Support the MUT!

Hello fellow recreational enthusiasts, We need your help! As many of you know, in 2011 the Department of Transportation will begin construction on a project that will include a multi-use path between Westby and Viroqua. This multi -use trail will be a great asset to our community. Vernon Trails pledged $3000.00 toward the MUT. In an effort to meet that goal, we are holding a raffle. We are only half way to meeting our goal. We are raffling 3 great prizes: a hybrid bicycle, pair of snowshoes, and a winter Vernon Trails Thermal Jacket! Tickets are 1 for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00 and are for sale at Bluedog Cycles, Viroqua Food Cooperative, Chilito Lindo, Borgens in Westby, or call 637-2072. The drawing will be held on Friday November 27, 2009 after the Twinklefest parade. Please help support Vernon Trail's with the MUT! Thank you! Alycann Taylor Volunteer Director Vernon Trails Please support this great cause!

SidieFest Success

Hey all, The 4th annual Sidiefest was a great success. The clouds parted on Friday night and Saturday was perfect for building trail. We had 70 people signed in and doing trailwork (an enormous thank you to all that rolled up their sleeves and got dirty). We got a whole lot of the connector from the top down to the dam benchcut, we cleared some new corridor up top, we installed some beautiful benches (made for us by the Mapledale Motivators 4H club), and we got some signage up (hurray for signs). After working hard we tapped a keg from Capital Brewery and fired up a grill. The crowd of workers was joined by lots of locals coming for the party, and we were entertained by 4 bands. The next morning Darrell put on a killer pancake breakfast and then we suited up and headed out to stomp the trails. The hail and rain held off till early afternoon and good times were had by all. In the next few weeks we'll have some new maps up in the kiosks and available on the VT webpage. If you missed the party, I'm sorry but you'll have to wait till next year when we celebrate 5 years of 'Festing' at Sidie. In the meantime, if you're looking to get your trailwork on, call the shop to learn about when we will be out there making beautiful trails. This is trail building season and we'll go till the ground is covered with snow. Later Pete

SidieFest Update

Just a reminder to you all that Sidiefest is this weekend. See the poster below for all the details. The weather forecast is being upgraded everyday, and it should prove to be a fantastic time.
We have a lot of tasks to accomplish ranging from earth moving, blistering labor to family friendly beautification duties. On a quick side note we are looking for two chain sawyers still if anyone likes to make loud noises and produce sawdust. As always we will finish up with the work part of the weekend by 3ish on Saturday and then it's partytime till noon the next day. Call the bike shop with questions 637-6993. See you outside, Pete Taylor Vernon Trails
